Devices of the Soul
I recently had an e-mail from Amazon saying
“We’ve noticed that customers who have expressed interest in Essential SharePoint by Jeff Webb have also ordered Devices of the Soul by Steve Talbott. For this reason, you might like to know that this book will be released on 8 May 2007. You can pre-order your copy for just £10.55 (34% off the RRP)”
Now, the Essential SharePoint book was rubbish, but this looks really interesting,
“In this insightful book, author Steve Talbott, software programmer and technical writer turned researcher and editor for The Nature Institute, challenges us to step back and take an objective look at the technology driving our lives….by examining the deceiving virtues of technology – how we’re killing education, socializing our machines, and mechanizing our society. Once you take this eye-opening journey, you will think more clearly about how you consume technology and how you allow it to consume you.”
Talking of Technology consuming you, when I changed my job, my new employer gave me a BlackBerry, god they’re evil. The nickname CrackBerry is well deserved!
