Keeping an eye on Talis
Since leaving Talis I’ve continued to keep an eye on what they’ve been up to. Well I do still have some shares so I have a vested interest…
Anyway a couple of things jumped out at me so I thought I’d metion them here. The first is a new video on the TDN entitled “The Twenty Minute Union Catalogue“. In this video Rob Styles demonstrates the Talis Platform by writing a Union Catalogue using PHP and xslt in just 20 minutes.
Nice one Rob, not only did it all work but even I understood the code.
I was surprised to spot a Talisweb Opac in one of the deep links. I can’t recall who it was but that Library needs an upgrade!
The second thing I spotted was the release of the Cenote Code as Open Source under the GPL. AFAIK This is the second application Talis have released under an Open Source Licence. It’s good to see that they’re continuing to contribute to the Open Source community.
Finally I noticed that they’re recruiting for a Systems Engineer. Sounds good I might apply…
