Man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything
Amid all the tributes to the legendry George Best it would have been easy to miss that Pat Morita aka “Mr Miyagi” also passed away recently. The 73 year old died of natural causes last Thursday.
He will of course be most remembered for his role in the 1984 film “The Karate Kid” but I also remember him from the TV Series “Happy Days“.
Hopefully people will forget the disastrous Karate Kid sequels…
IT workers are “worst dressed”

Acording to The Inquirer the IT industry has the worst dressed workers. Melanie Moss an Austrailian fashion guru said that
short sleeved shirts, man-made fibres and the wrong coloured socks were some of the most common fashion faux-pas in the IT industry.
This can’t possibly be true as I’m sure this photograph of your average team of IT workers will testify.
Talis Insight Conference
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week we held our annual Talis Insight conference at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham. I thought it was the best one yet. It was hard work and some problems caused by the network providers meant that we were still setting up at past midnight the night before but on the whole it went extremely well.
The presentations were excellent as were the demos, and I heard lots of positive comments from customers. I have presented in years gone by but this year I was involved primarily with the technical setup, setting up the correct firewall rules for the demos, building the servers and making sure the presentation laptops had network connectivity and audio as well as liaising with the contractors, exhibitors and presenters.
All attendees had access to wireless internet access and the stands all had wired connections with dedicated bandwidth.
We did have one short network outage during one of the presentations, one of the presentations running Apple Keynote crashed and one of the attendees leaned on a light switch mid presentation, other than that it all ran like clockwork. Nice one.
Bah Humbug!
Every year people complain that Christmas starts earlier and earlier and to be honest I’m one of them.
So you can imagine how shocked and appalled I was to arrive home from work this evening to find my next-door neighbour had put up Christmas decorations! It’s the 9th of bloody November!
I love Christmas as much as the next person but that’s just ridiculous.
AOL to be owned by Microsoft or Google?
Lots of people are talking about the possibility of AOL being acquired by either Google or Microsoft. Chris Pirillo has some interesting thoughts on the issue. On Microsoft and Google he says
“AOL is almost like a pawn in this, and they’ll likely go to the highest bidder. If Google wins AOL, it could deal a crushing blow to MSN. If MSN wins AOL, Google may very well lose 1/10th of its annual revenue stream. No matter how you put it: Microsoft can’t afford to let AOL go to any other company.”
My Money is on Microsoft but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Sensible Soccer Returns!
I loved Sensible Soccer so it’s great news that it’s returning. Let’s hope the new version is as good as the ones that have gone before it. According to Games Radar
Sensible Soccer will feature the same lightening-quick action and signature physics-defying banana shots, as well as a brand new look.
We’ll have to see if it replaces Pro Evolution Soccer as my current favourite footy game.
