RSS Search Results

Now this is interesting idea. MSN Search has added an RSS feed to their search results.

This means you can have the results from your most popular searches delivered straight into your RSS reader. While I think this is a great idea with plenty of potential, I don’t think it’ll be enough to tempt people away from Google.

As far as I’m concerned Google remains the daddy.

You can read more on the MSN Search Weblog.

To try this for yourself simply add &format=rss to your MSN search results.

The Da Vinci Code

Posted on January 16th, 2005 in Books and Films by Jim Prince

Just noticed on IMDb that Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code is being made into a Movie, with Tom Hanks starring as Robert Langdon.

Having recently read the book I think Tom is well cast. Ron Howard who has been involved in some great films such as A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13 is directing the film.

I really enjoyed the book and I hope the movie does it justice.

I’ll have a mac mini please

This has to be the tastiest piece of hardware I’ve seen in a long time. This machine is tiny at just 6.5 inches wide by 2 inches tall and it really looks the business.

In fact I like pretty much everything Apple make. The iPod is still the best MP3 player, iTunes, Quicktime and Safari are great applications and I’m really keen to try the UNIX based Mac OS X.

Microsoft AntiSpyware

spyware.jpgJust been playing about with this new tool from Microsoft and I’m pretty impressed. It certainly has the best interface I’ve seen for this sort of product.

Assuming they can keep the Spyware definitions up to date this could be a killer app. I think 2005 will be the year where Microsoft’s new Security focus will really be put to the test.

It’ll be interesting to see what they do with AntiVirus and SPAM filtering. If anything…

For Developers, Bloggers and Techies everywhere

Posted on January 6th, 2005 in Technology by Jim Prince

You need to read this post from causticTech. This bloke is brilliant!

His targets include Developers, Open Source Advocates, Bloggers and the mightly Microsoft.

His main point about a lack of perspective in the computing industry is bang on. We should be concentrating on the important stuff.

In the case of a software house this means writing and releasing reliable, secure and bug-free software that actually does what it’s supposed to.

My only criticism, why the hell can’t he capitalise sentences…
